Resume Writing Tips

I remember before when I attended a seminar entitled “how to make a good resume” because I learn a lot of things that I should do with my resume to make it more comprehensive and attractive. The speaker tell us not to put picture because at the trend today. Most of HR meets the person during the interview and I think the reason why the speaker tell us not to put picture to avoid criticism. Next is the use of email address. You should make it properly like juan_delacruz21@e-mail.com instead of 2cute&sexy4u@e-mail.com because it’s unprofessional if you will use that type of email. Another thing he said is don’t put many design to your resume because sometimes HR or manager got irritated to nonsense picture or graphics that is in your resume and lastly you should make it short & simple so that HR and Manager will not be tired of reading your resume.

Ticket To Success

Writing is terse and to the point. Maintain sentences as short and direct as probable. Eliminate any irrelevant information and any replications. Don’t use three examples when one will be adequate. Say what you want to say in the most direct way possible, rather than trying to astonish with bigger words or more complex sentences. Diverge long sentences with short pithy sentences. Use fragments rather than full sentences when phrases are possible, and start sentences with verbs; eradicate pronouns (“I”, “he” or “she”). Fluctuate words: Don’t repeat a “dominance” verb or adjective in the same article. Use commas to elucidate meaning and make reading easier. Remain reliable in writing postscript such as use of abbreviations and capitalizations.

Treat Interviews as a Sale

69.jpg

One thing about sales people is you have to be able to sell yourself before you can consider yourself as a good salesperson. Products and services are indeed your focal point in getting hired but if as a person you cannot sell yourself, then how do you expect yourself to succeed?

Such is important in businesses. You need to have a strong personality to be successful. For most it may not necessarily follow. But in this age, people are conservative and want to see results. It all starts on how you can convince them to hire you.

Prepare your Contacts

68.jpg

One thing that most sales people need to be ready with would be your contacts. These are the important things when you are in sales. The number of contacts can more or less help how good you are in marketing and closing deals. Normally, these would be asked but not in detail. Just a summary of how many contacts you have will be one of the good points towards getting the nod of any company.

Be sure you are not making up contact details for credibility. It will work against you since you never know if they happen to know that person. You will undergo a series of interviews. The possibilities may be many but you just never know.

Do not Submit a Novel!

73.jpg

When you submit your resume, remember that much of the talking will be done on the initial interview. It is not on paper. While a detailed resume would be fine, not all employers would appreciate your life story in one submission. These are questions that will be asked in the course of your application so try not to give them a hard time noting what makes you qualified for the position.

Resumes are identifications and short representations of your qualifications. They should contain mostly professional information of yourself. Doing away with the unwanted things such as educational medals and citations can save you a lot of space. Stick to the basic and professional things in line with your job hunt.
